Women Empowerment

Promote and fund women-led and women-focused sustainable and climate resilient food production strategies, including fair trade, and resource management activities Promote technologies and initiatives to enhance renewable energy sources that reflect women’s knowledge, needs, and roles, while incorporating indigenous expertise and traditional practices. Ensure that women and women interests are included within all climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts

Climate change policies

• Develop policies to address climate change that recognize gender-sensitive impacts, provide women with access to resources, and give them opportunities to participate in mitigation and adaptation processes. Capacity building to ensure key decision-makers understand how environmental degradation and climate change affect women differently than men. Improve and enforce secure land rights and inheritance rights for women to enable them adapt to climate change Ensure female involvement, including indigenous women and grassroots groups, in climate change negotiations and resource management.

To compile gender data in various sectors (agriculture, energy, water, transport, infrastructure and ICT. This includes sex-disaggregated data on socio-economic indicators showing gender inequality such as poverty levels, illiteracy levels, resources ownership and accessibility, participation in social groups, political engagement etc.

To map critical economic sectors, that is, agriculture, water, energy, infrastructure, overlaid with climate change hotspots and gender indicators in Africa so as to inform adaptation and resilience building strategies from local, national, regional to continental levels. To map the actions that are likely to be involved to address each climate change action and impact areas.To map gender issues in each sector to ensure that relevant indicators are selected.
